Hi I am Sheila Chucky's step mom..
This story is about our "LITTLE PREACHER BOY" Lynn "Chucky" Ward Jr.
Chucky was born on March 27, 1987 and he flew to Heaven on May 28, 1995.
Chucky was a very bright little boy always had a smile on his faces.
Always willing to help other no matter how he felt.
One day his daddy noticed him walking off balance and falling down often..
His daddy went over to where he was and helped him get up..
He asked him what was wrong. Chucky said I don't know I just keep falling down..
So we took him to the doctors and the doctor checked him out
and told us that it was an ear infection.
The doctor gave him some medicine to take.
And told us to bring him back if it didn't get any better.
We took him back in two weeks for a check up and things weren't any better.
The doctor said he didn't know what was wrong.
We asked him if they would be able to do a Ct scan.
So they did and if anything showed up in the scan that they would call us.
The doctor got the results back later that day..
He gave us a call and told us that they had found a tumor.
Medulloblastomas are malignant tumors formed from primitive
or poorly developed cells at a very early stage of life.
They developed in the cerebellum,
in a part of the brain called the posterior fossa,
but may spread to other parts of the brain,
and very rarely to other parts of the body.
Medulloblastomas are usually found in children,
particularly between the ages of two and eight.
They make up about 20% of all childhood brain tumors.
The tumor is more common in males than females.
They can also occur in adults but are extremely rare.
The Doctor decided to do surgery about 2 weeks after they found the tumor.
To try to remove it way from the brain stem.
But won't able to get it all out at that time.
Chucky had to go back in for surgery 2 days
later to be sure they got all the tumor out.
Chemotherapy treatment was started as soon as possible.
After both of the surgeries.
Chucky treatment included a large dose of Chemotherapy,
which left him spending many nights throwing up.
He was very weak and lost all of his hair.
But Chucky stayed strong.
After the Chemotherapy was almost through with the Doctors
added Radiotherapy to Chucky's treatment plan.
Radiotherapy was where they shot high energy rays
into Chucky's brain to killed any remaining cancerous cells.
Chucky was doing as good as expected after going through all of this.
He returned to school and being the little boy that he was.
Than 7 months in to him doing well the doctors did a MRI
to have a better look at Chucky's brain.
And low and behold they seen a tumor growing on his brain right above his temple.
Chucky then went in for another surgery to have the tumor removed. The Doctor than started him back on Chemo.
After about 3 treatments of chemotherapy.
The doctor ordered another MRI to see how everything was doing.
That's when the world as we knew it fell apart.
The doctor told us that the cancer was spread through out his brain and that the Chemotherapy was not helping as it should.
She told us that we had days to months to be with him.
But he lived with us for 5 months after that.
Where he filled out lives with joy and more memories of him..
A day after his daddy's birthday he flew to Heaven..
Chucky always told us that he wanted to be a preacher when he grow up.
Well little did he know he already was..
He touched everyone that he came in contact with.
